Anxiety & Zoloft

I'm 17 years old, and have been on zoloft since May 2006 for anxiety, a panic disorder [severe panic attacks] and social anxiety [which caused most of the panic attacks] I have not have a panic attack since October 2006, and decided recently, after much thought and talking to my doctor, to go off zoloft. Starting the first day of August, I took a half dose every day for ten days. Now I am taking a half dose every second day for twenty days, and then going off completely. I have basically had the flu for eighteen days now. Does anyone have advice for dealing with withdrawal of zoloft

zoloft users out there?

I have been on zoloft for over 5 years now.  I was on 50 mg for the first 5 and about 6 months ago I was very stressed out and relapsed do to events that were going on in my life. So they upped my does to 100 mgs.  It took a good two months to feel the affects of that. But I also tried my hardest to be healthy by eating right and exercising. You seem to have a lot going on right now and I think it will subside.  Take time for yourself.  Control what you can control!  Life has its ups and downs but I do believe you should give it more time to even out.  10 days ins't long when it can take 6-8 weeks for a full affect on a dose.  Hang in there.  Enjoy what you can.  Exercise does wonders for me because it boosts happy stuff in your brain and it makes you feel good about yourself!  Be patient.  Happy Holidays!

Anxiety and Depression Issues

Sometimes doctors will switch your medications over depending on what is right for you. Just don't do it on your own.  Throughout all of this, have you been going to talk therapy as well?  I am a big proponent of SSRIs like Zoloft as long as you combine it with talk therapy, so you can gain the long term knowledge to confront your anxiety and depression. As far as exercise goes; it is an absolute must for me.  I do cardio six times a week and find it a huge boost for my overall mental health.  Study after study shows that exercise not only makes you physically fit, it plays an important role in your mental health as well...keep us posted!

Taking Zoloft and Clonazepam

I take Effexor with Clonazepam. I take 1 mg of clonazepam in the morning together with Effexor and my anxiety is stable all day long. I even went through a separation which would not be possible if i stayed on my previous meds such as celexa and paxil. You can take Clonazepam before zoloft why not? But if zoloft doesn't work ask your doctor about effexor. Just be carefull because effexor shouldn't be mixed with other antidepressants. Do it only under your doctors supervision.
