FEAR OF GOING CRAZY

This feeling of going crazy is a direct manifestation of anxiety. I have those feelings too. My dear mother, who used to have anxiety badly used to say that her doctor told her that as long as she was worried about going crazy, she was not going crazy, it is only those that think all is well and deny things that are wrong. So, don't worry, stress and anxiety are causing these thoughts, as well as all the other miserable symptoms.

... help?

Hey Lil, First of all, have you ever had this before? Anxiety can really make you feel like you are losing it. But you have to remember one thing, Anxiety cannot hurt you nor can it cause you to go crazy. I have had anxiety attacks on and off for the past 30 years. It is caused by a build up of stress over time. The more you stress over the physical symptoms of stress the it feeds the beast. I know this won't be ease but you need to just flow with the anxiety. Let it run its course and try not to concern yourself with it. The thoughts are just that THOUGHTS! They cannot hurt you either. As disturbing as they may be, thoughts are anxiety's way of feeding the fire. It is almost like you are at war with yourself. The unreal feelings you are having are a part of anxiety too. Its really a way the mind and brain protecting itself from the stress you are under. Although scary, this unreal state cannot harm you either. I hope all of this helps you. Write back if you have any other questions.

Lets see feeling anxiety as I write this. Woke up this morning this way! Racing heart feel like I can't breathe upset stomach. I almost always have chest pain and stomach pain. I have anxiety 24/7 sometimes can't even leave my house because I feel so ill/nervous/sick.  I take .5 klonopin actually on half of one and that helps me calm down most of the time.  We to ER once because I was getting real bad heart palps doc said I should take a whole one. But half of one knocks me out. What is your doseage?  Believe it or not what works for me also is listening to relaxation audio on my ipod laying on my back. If you like to know what I listen too let me know.  But yes when anxiety real bad I get this fear that over whelms me and I think I won't make it through that episode.  But I always manage to make it through..I know how your feeling and I will pray for you to make it through and get stronger :)

General Anxiety Disorder

I have feared things my entire life.As i get older i get new fears an maybe lose a little. There was a time I was afraid of getting blood drawn but now have become professional. There was a time I would take anything a doctor would give me (meds) without worrying about side affects. Now i am afraid to take anything, but do. I truly believe if you can take something mild for relaxation to get on that plane to get that damn surgery and conquer this possible cancer you will come out a different person. A great, strong person. you will see not only will you beat this cancer but you will conquer your fear of flying and other things. Please message me if you would like to talk. I think noone responded because they had no idea what to say. you will get to the US if you want to. anasethia  isn't all that bad i have had it many times. Never had a problem with and in fact had some of the best sleep  i have ever had. take care.

Would my doctors have found something if something was wrong?? I feel so crazy!

What you describe seems quite typical for anxiety/depressive disorder. Tranquilizers don't help you with the anxiety and panic?  Do you see a psychiatrist? FEAR is a dominant feature with anxiety and depression...it's what make it a real hell. It's very difficult to believe that anxiety and depression can have the severe physical effects that they do.. We all have normal anxiety and get depressed so that's all we have to relate to so when we're told we have those 'disorders' we don't realize it's something totally different then that.  You don't have to have something to be anxious or depressed about to be suffering the symptoms of the illness. I don't know much of your medication experience but frequently people are given meds by a GP and when they don't work, another is tried, and you eventually get fed up with effects you have from them.   Some people need to be started off on much smaller doses then the standard dose and build up gradually.  Taking too much at the beginning can steer you from a medication that may well be the best one for you and you never get the chance to find out. SSRI's are frequently the drug of first choice these days.  None of them ever worked for me and I gave them a good trial.  I know how frustrating that can be but there are a lot of medcations out there and we frequently have to go thru a few to get the right combination. Why is it that this illness has to be the one that is such an inexact science to get relief for? Our nervous systems are so poorly understood.  These medciations have been around for decades and their action is hardly understood.  Yet they can and do provide relief for the symptoms if they are administered in the proper fashion.   Only you can determine what the proper course of action is for you.   My recommendation would be to find a psychiatrist (or new one).  Let him know exactly what you are going thru, what meds you tried, their dosages and length of time you tried them, what therapy you have had and how that went.  DONT give up in finding some help.  You don't have to accept living with the symptoms you have unless YOU choose to.  You deserve to be better able to enjoy the blessings you have. Sorry for being so long winded!!

i cant control my anxiety

yes, You are hypercondraic. i totally understand i did the same thing for about a year and a half with the blood sugar thing.  My husband's grandmother is diabetic and she had given us a machince because something had happened to him one day and we thought that maybe it had to do with his blood sugar.  well for whatever reason i obsessed about it and check mine all the time. i even went to the emergecy room and waited about 4 hours because of it. While waiting to see a doctor the nurse check my blood sugar 3 times and it was all normal, so i finally said this is stupid and i am scaring myself and went home.LoL..I don't have problems with my blood sugar either.. but thank God i don't do that anymore.. If you need support i am here.

Anxiety won't go away. What do I do?

Sorry to see you have to go thru this, it is no fun.  Big hug in the mean time, remember this too shall pass.   Try to do some deep breathing exercise, a few at a time, breathe in deep, hold 2 sec then release deep out like 3 times every hour or two.   Try to drink some chamomile tea, helps to relax and calm you naturally, good help for sleep.  Play some soft relaxing music in the background.  When my anxiety kicks to high gear while driving to work, I'll play some classical music, boring yea but it always brings my anxiety down a notch.   Try to meditate if you can.   Meditation can help take your mind to a pleasant place of your choosing, believe me IT HELPS. I know how you feel, my anxiety been up this entire weekend, I hate that horrible anxious knot in the stomack you mentionned above.  You take care hopefully your mom gets home soon to keep you company. Big hug, feel better soon!

PLS HELP I AM SO SCARED.....

What you don't mention is if you've seen a psychologist about your anxiety problem or seen a psychiatrist if it's so bad you can't function.  Obsessing about cancer, as you know, gets you nowhere.  If you live long enough you will undoubtedly get it sometime, unless we clean up our polluted world, but worrying about it means you're making yourself suffer even when you don't have it.  Try focusing on getting past your mental problems, the one thing you know you have.
