Recurring depression or Panic Attack or just stress?

Hello all, Last year, i have been diagnosed with anxiety, which led to severe depression. I'm on 10 mg cipralex a day, and 0.25 mg Xanax. Thing appear to be on an off, but if i have to compare, i am a way better than last year. Been passing through a rough time, joblessness family problems and all type of stresses you could thing off in a home where everyone thinks he is the boss. i am the type that doesnt like problems. The thing is, all the problems occurred in the family house up in the mountains, and its like whenever i go there, i have this feeling of tension. Been fasting for a month

Hi, I'm sorry that you are dealing with the anxiety and depression. Yeah, foggy brain can be due to the stress, but it could also be a result of the fasting too (like you mentioned). What did your doctor say about the brain fog, other than your test are normal? Other than prescribing meds., has your doctor referred you to a therapist at any point?  Have you ever considered therapy sessions?

Hospitalized for Severe Panic Attacks

Anxiety can get really bad. I was at the same point in December/January, couldn't drive, work, barely could get out of the car. I somehow managed to do things but my husband took time off to help me. It can really disable you if you let it, but it does get better. While I still battle daily, it is not as bad as it was, have her see a good therapist, that helped me tremendously!

tingling sensation in back of my neck, neck feeling weak very irritating

I can totally relate to that neck feeling. I've been suffering from acute anxiety for the past ten months. It started with an initial panic attack back in April 2008, when the room suddenly started spinning and I thought I was going to black out. Since then, I've had constant lightheadedness, derealization, a feeling of being "not there," and this terrifying tingling feeling in my muscles, particularly my neck and back when it gets really bad.             I've had every test in the book done and everything has come back normal. It was finally a neurologist who told me I suffered from anxiety. Since then, I've been seeing a therapist and, although I still go through rough bouts with this muscle buzzing / lightheadedness, I definitely have more good days than bad. I notice that taking care of yourself helps a great deal. Exercise, a good diet, and breaking bad habits (props to you for quitting the pack, I'm still a light smoker) have had a very positive effect on me. Cutting back on my caffeine intake helps too.             My problems, I think, stemmed from health anxiety. I was always afraid of getting sick, before the first panic attack which resulted in me not eating enough and then blacking out. The lightheadedness started soon after that.            Anyway, it's an ongoing battle, and I wish you the very best of luck. This struggle has shown me how strong I am capable of being. And for a pampered suburban twenty five year old, I guess I never assumed I was this strong. But you'll get through it, and if the acupuncture helps, then keep it up. Whatever makes you feel better, do that, whatever makes you feel worse, stay away. Plain and simple. Good luck and I'm always here if you need to talk.

Can anxiety go away?

What wonderful news! :-)  Anything is possible, Sam.  You may never have a panic attack again.  It is possible for it to return under very stressful situations (job loss, divorce, death in family, etc).  You may want to keep a list of 'coping with stress skills'  handy.  If you have never done one of these, here's how.  Get a pen and paper.  Write a list of your stressors (and even possible ones that could happen in the future) down the left side of the page.  Down the middle, write why you find these things stressful.  Down the right, write positive ways to handle these stressors.  Keep the list where you can find it easily for future reference.  You can also keep a list of relaxation techniques along with your coping list.  Some of these techniques would be:  concentrated breathing (in thru the nose, out thru the mouth, for a count of ten, ten times.), meditation or prayer, excersize, music you like, a warm shower or bath, the list goes on and I'm sure you can come up with more on your own.  You need choices for relaxation since you never know what will work best for you at any given particular time.  I do not recommend taking any unecessary medications, even herbal ones.  I do recommend a healthy diet (healthy food is good for your brain chemistry), and balance in your life style.  By that I mean, don't do too much or too little of any one thing in a day.  Develop, if you haven't already, a stable daily routine that isn't too strict.  You require freedom of movement in your schedule, as well as just having the schedule.  People with anxiety find comfort on routine, which is the reason for stability.  I hope I have been of some help.  Blessings - Blu

Do anxiety disorders lead to depressing, or is it the other way around?

Anxiety and depression often go hand-in-hand and if I had to guess which comes first I would say anxiety.  But it really doesn't matter which came first, you need to get a diagnosis so you can start to feel better.  Living with anxiety can wear on us creating depression, so yes....helping one will help the other.  You need to speak with a psychiatrist so the two of you can determine the best course of treatment for you....therapy and/or medication.  Better days are ahead, you just need a little help which we all do at some point.  Sharing with us is a big step now seek a professional opinion so you can get the ball rolling towards feeling better.

worried please help

I had an attack just like yours which caused me to stop smoking weed period.... Im still suffering with anxiety, and im not to sure what triggered it.. but what I do know is that my symptoms slowly started to get better as time went on, but I have had anxiety ever since that 1 time smoking weed. counselling would most likely help you, but just remember that you will be ok... and dont worry ( i know its hard)

Hello! I just wanted you to know I am going through the exact same thing right now. It's the weirdest, scariest feeling and it's so hard to explain to people when they don't understand it. I have been working on getting rid of my anxiety and extreme stress, which I heard once that's gone I can overcome the other symptoms. I have been doing a lot of research and I beleive I am experiencing depersonaliztion and derealization due to my stress and anxiety. I have gone to a few acupunture appointments to try to releive the stress and it seems to help that day, but then I feel like I need to go back all the time to feel better. It doens't make the feeling of "unreality" go away completey, but it calms me and eases some stress. I am also working on taking some chinese herbs.... (don't know how you feel about all that) Hopefully we can kick this because I know it is extremely frustrating. It's completely controlling my life right now. I know it will pass, though.
