Bad Trip and Lingering Effects - Should I seek medical help??

Hi, I tripped 2 days ago for the first time. I had been drinking, and casually decided to try my friend's roommates' LSD. It was a stupid decision and now I'm thinking the worst decision of my life. I do have some anxiety issues and have periods of short-term depression. The trip was wrought with mistakes...I took it alone, my "monitor" became blackout drunk, and we went out in Manhattan....not exactly a safe, calm setting. I had also been experiencing some anxiety a few days before but had felt great that weekend, which I'm reading now isn't a healthy "set.&

Bad Trip and Lingering Effects - Should I seek medical help??

I think the experience shook you, it's probably not the drug but the experience you're feeling now.  I think you'll be fine, but it has told you that your statement you've suffered with anxiety might be something worth looking into more.  One thing that should comfort your fears:  LSD is almost never pure -- it's usually cut with speed, which is why the trip lasted so long.  This has been going on since I was a youth in the 60s, when labs tested drugs for people and by the 70s found virtually no LSD that wasn't cut with speed.  That may be why it's gone on so long.

Effexor withdrawals

Personally, I found Effexor a hard med to get off of. It should be done very slowly to help with withdrawal symptoms. In my opinion it sounds like you may be tapering too fast. Maybe you and your Dr can work on another tapering schedule. One that will go much more slowly. The nausea and brain zaps were the worst symptoms for me too. I do hope you can get in touch with your Dr very soon to discuss what to do next.

How long for my brain chemistry to revert to normal after six days on Eescitalopram?

Normally the drug doesn't start working in only six days, but the side effects start immediately.  And yes, anything can happen with these drugs though this is an unusual situation.  Two things could have happened:  you could have been inordinately sensitive to the med, and thus should have tapered slowly off of it even though after only six days that doesn't normally need to be done but it is safer, and second, it's possible you became conditioned to feeling anxious because of the side effect of the drug just as people can become conditioned to anxiety after a bad trip on any drug that affects the brain.  In the latter situation, talk therapy to recondition your thinking is the best option, but if the first situation is true, then time will either take care of it or you'll have to go back on it and quit it more slowly.  It's no fun to be the unusual case, believe me, I know.

Medication help - Celexa (Dr. Please)

The psychiatrist is on the mental health forum, not here.  I can tell you, as can anyone here, that nobody can predict for you which medication will work better.  Although Celexa and Lexapro are derived from the same basic formulation, people react quite differently on them, so they are obviously not equivalents for everyone.  My psychiatrist is switching me from Lexapro, which hasn't worked well, to Celexa, for complicated reasons, but her experience with patients tells her reactions to the two drugs can be very different.

Help with my RLS

I had all those symptoms and they all improved when my thyroid medication was optimised.  I got better on a T4/T3 combo.  I did not improve whatsoever on T4-only medication.   I found the longer I was taking the T3 the better I got and eventually the heart palps went ... after having them for more than 13 years!!  I think my adrenals were so bad that when they finally improved on the T3 that everything else started to improve. The jumpiness went with the T3 as did the headaches, depression etc.  I'm not so irritable...but I do still go off at the drop of a hat. What meds are you taking for thyroid.  I had RLS for years but didn't seek treatment for it....and I don't get it now. Best wishes.  I know how miserable you can get with this.  Have you had a look at some thyroid sites with loads of info and files...such as stopthethyroidmadness.com??  There are others thyroid.org and about.com all have information which may help. ...Julia

How long does it take for Depakote side effects to subside?

Be careful if you discontinued it all at once. That was not the right way to do it as there will be withdrawal symptoms. Those are bad side effects and your psychiatrist would have titrated you off but it has to be done slowly. I had the same side effects. I could not tolerate Depakoate. I found Lamictal to be more tolerable and other people have as well. But there can be interactions between the two from what I believe so they can't be taken together. Ask your psychiatrist about Lamictal. That's a known mood stabilizer. But there may have to be a period of time of two weeks from what I remember with me while the Depakoate gets out of your system. And I strongly reccomend not discontinuing a medication all at once as there can be withdrawal symptoms. Speak to your provider about Lamictal and explain why you went off the Depokoate but as for remaining side effects and withdrawal symptoms expect it to be difficult for a while and before he can put you on another medication, if its Lamictal which is a possibility, the symptoms of bipolar, especially mania will return in full force as the medication gets out of your system so that's something to guard for as well.

Has anybody got experience with gabapentin for anxiety?

I can only share my own experiences with Gabapentin. I started on it a year ago last Feb. a small dose of 300mg. It was slowly raised up to 1800mg.which I was on until Jan. of this year. It did nothing for my anxiety, in fact I felt worse because my Dr. kept telling me that it wasn't working because I wasn't trying hard enough to get better. Finally got fed up with that Dr. and found a new one that weaned me off of it over a months time, while taking a low dose of Klonipin which I felt better on right away. God Bless, with your decision, I truly know what a hard road this is to travel.
