14 year old with sever school phobia

Well there may be something wrong and he may need someone to speak to such as a talk therapist but I'm not a believer in the term "school phobia". They said that's what was going on when I was that age but actually I enjoyed the classes and the coursework but I was getting bullied all the time and also I did because of my psychiatric disability have trouble relating to people as well of course. So it could be both. But have an honest conversation with him about why he is avoiding school. If its an issue with other students if you found out the specifics you could speak to the guidance counselor about it but you need to know what's going on.

My daughter is suffering with school phobia, what can I do to help her?

Its important to find out what might be the cause of her being afraid to go to school. Sometimes it is an issue with bullying as I experienced at that age and a guidance counselor was able to help with but some kids feel uncomfortable explaining the reason why. Also if there is family tension that would worsen things. It would be worthwhile to go to family counseling which was helpful for me as well. If they notice that further help is needed they could make a referral from there.

What can I do?

id say if you cant get the help you need, like a child psych, at least get help while you wait,  maybe a family therapist, at least get the ball rolling.

Anxiety and Lack of Sleep

Forgive me for saying this, but hyper and lack of sleep are not really 2 things that go hand in hand. You would imagine she would be the reverse of hyper. Lack of energy. Due to the lack of sleep. Was she diagnosed with depression? I am just guessing, so don't quote me on this ( Noit a doctor or medical expert ), but anti-depressants bring you up. They are to make you feel better when low. If she was not a depressive maybe the tablet is wrong for her? It is bringing her up. Making her hyper. Giving her too much energy that someone who doesn't sleep shouldn't have. Sleeping tablets at that age, I personally thing, are not right. But they might be better than an anti-depressant if that form of medication is not working for her. Again a small dose only. Nothing like an adult would take. I do see the social phobia part. Thinking more something to calm her down. Not bring her up. If you see what I mean. Suppose you have tried everything else, like a radio in the room with her, book reading, etc, etc. Just normal activities that would zonk anybody out. I myself have to have a radio on at night to fall asleep. But I'm 38. But I still need that something along with medication. Takes the mind off things. At night the mind can race a lot. Even worse if you can't sleep. really do hope you can find an answer for her. Such a young age to be dealing with such big problems.

7 year old with ADHD...I need help???

maybe you should have his doctor have you try another medicine, other than Stratera.  Stratera is a non-sitmulant and it does not work as well as the stimulant drugs such as Retilin, Metadate and Anderall.  You also need to catch him being good and praise him.  Motivate him with positive rewards (verbal and material such as treats, going to the movies, getting to do something with you that he likes). Good luck.

8 year old w bp and add... at wit's end

Some of my friends who have children with behavioral health problems have enrolled them in martial arts and explained to the instructors what the problems are and they have had a profound influence on them.  Not only does martial arts teach them discipline, and control it also gives them a safe outlet for the aggression. Of course, before I did any of this I would talk to his pdoc or counselor about it.  But it really has worked wonders for my friends.

5 year old with behavioral issues

I also wanted to add that her math and science skills are exceptional, but she is lacking in social studies, reading, and writing.  Every marking period she has received "S"s (satisfactory) in these areas, but "N"s (needs improvement) in the other areas..this has been consistent through out the school year despite increased focus on helping her with the areas that need improvement.

8 yr old inapproiate touching teachers

Hi! I appreciate your apprehensions. You need to talk to his friends, your family members etc to understand whether any one has ever noticed any type of inappropriate behavior from him. Do not talk about his behavior towards his teachers, just ask. Sometimes people are reluctant to open up about such things. It could be an increased sexual awareness that comes with age, and he has to be taught how to handle it. The school could be lying. It could be retaliation in response to some teasing etc. You can also consult a therapist and discuss this issue.   Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
