The first thing to is get treatment for your actual disability. If you have that severe a sleep disorder you will need treatment. Also there should be a diagnosis as to why you cannot sleep at night. You should seek a consult with a neurologist and find out what is wrong. Secondly, regardless of what you might believe, make sure that you have the approval of a psychiatrist to discontinue an antipsychotic. If someone has any form of psychiatric disability needing treatment with an antipsychotic, discontinuing it can bring back their psychosis in a rebound fashion that is dangerous. On the other hand, if someone does not have any form of psychosis or schizophrenia or other condition that needs an antipsychotic, a psychiatrist can carefully taper the dosage slowly to see what happens and if its not needed discontinue it. So the first step is to see what a neurologist reccomends and the second is to speak to a psychiatrist and if they can see that the study confirms you don't need an antipsychotic, discontinue it at their rate. As for misdiagnosis, a past diagnosis if proved wrong can't hurt you in anyway. If you are concerned about it being used say for insurance purposes that's all the better reason for a trained clinical neurologist to write what is the current diagnosis and if you were asked you could present that. As for past medical records, updated ones would rule them invalid but hospitals have laws about how long they have to keep them for recording keeping purposes so they can't be destroyed or deleted but if the diagnosis is updated they can't come back to haunt you either if that's what concerns you.
