What Are The Worst Consequences You've Faced During Addiction?

It only took one little pill to cause me to 'relapse' and start seeking pain meds again. I was on them since a young age, for 15 years, then was off them for about 4-5 months before I got caught up again. It's kind of hard not to, because for almost the whole time I was off the pills, I was in so much pain and so sick, I could NOT function. After the detox cold-turkey, it did not get much better. So, I took ONE Norco, and then was hooked again, just trying to feel good enough to live my life off the couch. Now, I know soon the person I took the pills from is going to find out, and

Trying to quit subutex-17 days of my journey.

Hi Jon and welcome. It is very possible for you to be happy and " normal" again without having to take a pill to get through your day. Your mind, body, soul  and spirit have been on a wild roller coaster ride with how you have been feeding it the combo of drugs on and off. You need to get rid of every pill you have so you will start to heal. Yes it will take time. Be patient my friend. Take vitamins, drink protein shakes. Eat lots of veggies, fruit and protein. Exercise. Take natural over the counter supplements for sleep and to help you relax. Please stay awy from the people, places and things associated with your use. That is so awesome you are going to Australia. That will be a good time to get on track with a new lifestyle. Have you been to counseling and/ or support groups to help prevent relapse? Keep yourself busy with wholese things. A new hobby, work, school , church. You will heal. You are young and you will get it right. Your life depends on it. Go have a flushing party and prepare yourself for your trip. Be blessed, Debbie

addicted to everything now apparently...

I was right there with you.  Remember many people are dealing with or have dealt with the exact same thing you are dealing with.  You are not alone!  I would take anything to make me not feel.  I hated myself, I counldn't stand looking at myself in the mirror.  I suggest going to an AA/NA meeting where people will comfort you.  If you have the money I strongly suggest a counselor.  God is with you and loves you.  It may not feel like it but trust me he is there watching over you because he wants the best for you.  If you have been taking a bunch of different drugs at high doses, the withdrawals could be dangerous and you might want to go to the hospital.  You can do it though.  I was in your position 3 months ago and was blessed by God to overcome my addictions.  It is scarey but put your trust in God and ask him to comfort you.  Good luck you can do it and are definitly not alone.

How will this go down

Day 1 update: Yesterday I took 4x of 0.5mg of suboxone film from the morning until the last one at around 7:30pm. I had work this morning so I didn't want to feel too sick to go in. In fact I felt absolutely fine, and it is currently 8:30pm at night and other than a little bit of lethargy (maybe from not getting enough sleep last night) I am feeling ok. My mood is stable and I can feel more (good and bad). Because of the half life I might even feel ok tomorrow, we will see. I'm going to fill in some paperwork and prepare everything so I don't have to do any work in the next few days. I also went shopping for some vitamins which I have started taking today: Mega Magnesium by Ethical Nutrients Super B Daily Stress by Ethical Nutrients Brahmi+PS+Ginkgo Focus by Bioglan Brain Support I also have some Temaze Tabs for sleep which I dont think I will need tonight.

Addicted to painkillers!!!

Hey L8dee. I'm sorry you're in this situation. I haven't been through pain pill withdrawls but my fiancee has the last 26 days and I've seen it firsthand. I've been through withdrawls from benzos and the wds are quite similar. You can use imodium ad for the diarrhea, hot baths are wonderful for the legs, Holland's leg cramps pills, bananas, drink plenty of water and/or gatorade, fruit, exercise..none of these are going to eliminate your withdrawls but hopefully help. It's something we must go through for soberity and to recover. I know you can do it and I will be praying for you. I'm very proud of you for making the decision to quit!! You're right tapering off never worked for me either or anyone else I know that was a addict. It just takes a made up mind and a determined spirit. Be blessed.

How to protect myself and kids from husbands addiction and financial ruin

What I finally did was open my own checking account and had my money put there. My direct deposit from work. Then he couldn't use that to buy. It is hard but you have to be tough. You won't finance his use anymore. Of course you run the risk of him doing the same. He must still pay bills. Or he can leave. Demand rehab. Meetings. Or you may have to file for separation or divorce. It is a hard decision. A very hard one. But do what is best for your children.

I'm confused about medication and therapy

I'm a little confused.  The worst symptom of anxiety is usually anxiety -- the fear and the stress.  You say your worst symptom is brain fog and trouble concentrating.  While this is a problem when anxiety would be peaking, it wouldn't seem to be constant unless your anxiety is constant.  So maybe there's another cause (by the way, medication, including klonopin, can cause those very symptoms as well in some people).  But then later you say you suffer crippling anxiety.  So either your brain fog is a symptom of anxiety or of something else; if of anxiety, then therapy works by helping you think differently so you're not so anxious.  There's no guarantee therapy will work, and sometimes it's hard to find a good therapist that matches us or for us to work with one, but a good anxiety therapist should teach relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises and progressive muscle relaxation and meditation that, over time, can help clear the head.  That's how therapy would work if it did work.

How can we stop the cycle of our sons stalling for consecquences

It sounds like you are consistently following through which is very important.  But part of how it all works depends on the maturation of the child.  How old is your son?  Does he do this all the time - or only when he is off medication- or is he on medication?  Does his school report the same problems.  Also, you said, "lately", has any thing changed in his life, his meds, his household - lately?
