After accutane

Hey guys ! I'm an 18 year old male . I started having pimples when i just turned 16 . Mostly on my forehead and occasionally on my cheeks . Used to control them with face washes and topicals. After 6 months my forehead cleared up but during that time period i had minor breakouts now and then on my cheeks but they mostly cleared up . After that i started getting a lot of pimples on my cheeks so the dermatologist put me on antibiotics for 3-4 months. My acne just got worse so i was put on accutane for 2 months and it cleared my skin. By that time i was 17 years old . After two months i start

Hi . i am sara and im 18 years old.Well I've been using accutane its been 3.5 months..n they say it has to take 4-6 for the acne to disappear,  n thats when we could stop the treatment... Well as i said i have been on this treatment for 3.5 months, and im not sure if its working.. I mean i do see a difference in the pimples, 3 months ago they were bigger n there was an infection..But now, although they seem to have dissapeared shape wise, the redness is still there, just like before !! Are those red spots gon stay there,  are they scars that i can't get rid of with accutane anymore? What should i do . Accutane & Vaginal Dryness, Low Libido, Inability to Orgasm

Hi. Accutane works by shrinking the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. They grow back very slowly, by which time the patient has nearly always outgrown their tendency for acne. Accutane can also affect hair, lips, eyes, nose and vagina. Skin can be fragile for up to 6 months after finishing Accutane. However, it is very unusual to still be experiencing vaginal dryness after a year. Have you changed anything else, method of birth control for example? Using a fruit-flavored lubricant will make it feel more sexy and less clinical than using something like KY Jelly. Make an appointment with your doctor, as it is unusual for this problem to persist after stopping Accutane. Eloise.

Accutane Second Course

You have received incorrect information. One course of Accutane results in a long term remission from acne for 80% of patients. 20% of patients require a second course and of those 25% require a third course. I have taken Roaccutane (as it is called in the UK) twice because I relapsed the first time and had to go back on the treatments I was using before I tried Roaccutane. My skin is good (please see my photos in my profile) Eloise x

Never ending Acne

Hi. It is possible to relapse from accutane and sometimes a second or third course is necessary. If your dermatologist does not think you warrant a second course of accutane at this time what did she prescribe to help you? Often having taken accutane, remedies which were previously ineffective may work because accutane changes the skin. The most effective oral antibiotics are oxytetracycline or lymecycline. Erythromycin can be used but there is widespread resistance to it. The most useful topical preparation for acne is a retinoid gel called Differin which can be used concurrently with oral antibiotics. If you are female take an anti-androgen contraceptive pill such as Yasmin or Diane35. Never take medicines not prescribed for you and don't buy them online. A flashy website does not guarantee the product is genuine. At best it will be a placebo and you will have wasted your money. At worst it could harm you. You could also be breaking the law as online accutane is often imported from another country. Try some of the things mentioned above and if your acne continues see a more sympathetic dermatologist. Severity of acne has a lot to do with how it affects you, not just the number of lesions. Loiloi xx

post accutane rash

Hi. Accutane makes the skin more sensitive because it dries up the grease glands. This sensitivity continues for up to 6 months afterwards. Your daughter should continue to use products for sensitized skin for another 3 months and avoid contact with any harsh products which dry the skin. I recommend using Lutsine hydrafnia cleanser and moisturizer, especially made for spot-prone skin which has become irritated due to some acne therapies. Make a doctors appointment as anti-histamines or hydracortizone cream may be indicated to clear this rash. If she develops any other symptoms such as difficulty breathing or swelling of the tongue or fingers seek medical help as rashes can be the sign of allergic reactions. Loiloi xx

Accutane not working?

Hi..I was on accutane for 5 months and had to stop due to my insurance getting cancelled. But it didn't start working for me until like 4 months at which she had to double my dose because it wasn't working. so maybe they could up your dose? but I have heard that it doesn't work for some people like 10% or something. ANd the dark spots that are left are not scars, they will go away, but it takes like up to 6 months. just make sure to not pick at your acne, but the marks will go away it just takes forever. i have been on accutane twice, once when i was 17, and now im 26. I have cystic acne, and it made it better but not like i wanted it to be. i just realize now that i'm doing the best i can at taking care of myself and if i still have acne then there is not much left to do. the people in my life who still stick around and think im beautiful are the people who are true friends and don't care what i look like on the outside. but what has helped with my acne would be washing my face twice a day with cetaphil face cleanser. then i drink 8 cups of water a day. plus i do a mask every couple days its by the brand queen helene and you can get it at walgreens called mint julep face mask. good luck!!!
