Suggested Questions And Answer :

What is the best treatment for kids to reduce the burn scar?

Hi, How is your son? I'm sorry to hear about this and I understand your concern. Keloids are the result of an overgrowth of dense fibrous tissue that usually develops after healing of a skin injury. The tissue usually extends beyond the borders of the original wound and does not usually regress spontaneously. On the other hand, hypertrophic scars present  as red, pruritic, raised fibrous lesions that typically do not expand beyond the boundaries of the initial injury. This may undergo partial spontaneous resolution and are often associated with thermal injuries and other injuries that involve the deep dermis.  If it has been 2 years already, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation.  Surgical excision  as well as intralesional corticosteroid injection, cryotherapy, pulsed dye laser and skin needling may be indicated. Take care and do keep us posted.

Wait Time for Laser Treatment for Acne Scars

He must wait 6 months as it says in the instructions. This is because accutane has a long half life which means it stays in your body when you stop taking it. If you have laser treatment less than 6 months after stopping accutane you risk irritation and scarring. Give my love to your son, i've taken accutane twice too. love eloise xx

Yes, I have also done fraxel and I'm very please with the results.  You will start seeing results after your 3rd treatment.  Yes, it is normal to be sent home with your face a little blue-green looking.  It typically comes off in the shower, and don't scrub it because your skin is raw from having 20% of your top layer removed!  Also, yes, it is normal to flake and your face to be red for a week - that's how long it was for me after each treatment.  After the 3rd treatment I did not feel a need to wear cover up anymore to cover my scars - so yes, I think you are doing the right thing and you will see results!  In addition, the texture of your skin just keeps getting better even after you finish the fraxel.  Good luck - I am excited for you!!!!

Scar retratction

Having surgery(lumpectomy) for breast cancer without the recommended treatment though a person's choice is never wise. I would accept that this is another recurrance as indicated by PET/CT and accept whatever treatment is offered. I wonder if further surgery has been advised ..... at this point I believe that would be my choice followed by whatever treatment the Oncologist determined appropriate. Blaming the recurrance on some other cause seems odd to me. If you aren't completely comfortable with your treatment or it's results you might seek a second opinion from another Oncologist.   Regards .....

lump after surgery

Hi. NHL can recur after treatment. Have you had a blood exam, say an LDH? If the level is elevated, there might be a recurrence. You can always ask for a second opinion to have a better picture of your condition. Good luck.

Radial Scar

Hi.  A "radial scar" is not an uncommon finding. It does not necessarily indicate cancer.  It may just be that - scar tissue (a collection of fibrous material and connective tissue). Your doctors want to perform a biopsy just to make sure it isn't anything serious.  Excision biopsy would mean taking out the entire "abnormal" structure (in this case, the radial scar) without including the surrounding normal breast tissue.  Lumpectomy will entail resection of surrounding normal breast tissue along with the abnormal structure, but it falls short of taking out the whole breast (that would be mastectomy).

After acutane skin problems

Taking vitamins A,C and E plus zinc may be beneficial to your skin, but will not produce outstanding results like Accutane can. Have you talked to your doctor about taking another course of Accutane? Having used Accutane other treatments that were previously ineffective may now work. So using oral antibiotics, topical retinoids or anti-androgens is something you should also consider and discuss with your doctor. Eloise x

i lost direction of my foliculitis....

Marks on the skin are not considered 'permanent scarring' until a year has passed as they may fade greatly on their own. As you say, scratching should be avoided as it will scar and a secondary infection may be caused. The minocyline may cause hyperpigmentation in areas exposed to the sun which may make your scars look worse. Loiloi
