why decadron and predicor are needed with chemio?

I think predicor is very similar to decadron, and a steroid/cortisone type drug, but I have no personal experience with this drug and do not know why your mom is on both medications. Decadron is given with chemo, not all chemos though, for two major reasons. The first one is to prevent allergic reactions to the chemo, and the other as a way of controlling nausea that is often  accompanied with chemo. Hope that helps a little, Katrin

dex suppression for cushing

You were feeling better because the steroids made you feel better and now, the steroid withdrawal makes you feel rotten. It is normal however to make you feel rotten - what a great test, huh? It is also a very unrealiable test. I had Cushing's disease and I suppressed on every level on dex test and dex-crh tests yet I still had Cushing's. So did a lot of people I know. I hope your doctor does not use this as a test of exclusion. Dex is also long acting, so it is going to take a while to get it all out of your system.

croup work-up and dx.

Hey, we are in the same boat... My five year old son has had recurrent, progressive, croup like symptoms for years.  We have prescriptions for both raci epi nebs and for decadron by mouth.  I know here in FL, the ambulance does not carry raci epi neb so we had to have it.  It could save his life.  Most of the time he needs more than two doses though so we end up in the ER anyway.   I recommend, if it gets worse to have him scoped acutely.  Connor's broncoscopy was normal in between episodes but last weekend when he was admitted they scoped him and his airway was riddled with yeast...  this could be from prolonged use of steroids, (inhaled and nasal along with by mouth and antibiotics.)   I am curious to see if long term cadidas (yeast) is the culprit for recurrent croup.   Right now we are playing the waiting game.  Connor is being treated with Diflucan to clear up the yeast...  if that is the cause then hopefully he will not have another episode.   Either way, I feel your pain and I hope you find answers...  You should know that scoping an acutely ill airway may leave your child in the PICU, like mine...  but just for a night... and at least we found out about the yeast. good luck gra

That benzo has got to be tapered very slow and easy. Most important not to be in a hurry and to stabilize each cut until you're comfortable on that amount before moving to the next very small cut. Know that this won't happen overnight and you're going to be fine. You can do this!!

CINE MRI not covered by my INS????

That is what I would do.  I had a problem with our insurance not covering a prescription which I needed and my NS office was kind enough to write the insurance Co a letter sated you need it.  I wish you the best.  This is so flustrating.  I guess people in your insurance doesn't know nothing about Chairi and how important this test would be for you.  I don't understand why they would deny something that in the long run would save them some money.  Best of luck.

Need Help

Way to go. You've made a very wise decision. I have to ask. Where did you get the Vicodin? Hopefully a doctor. You need to start talking to someone who at least you can trust. Going to a doctor would be the best idea. Sounds like you have a lot on the line there. The best reason is you though. Make a plan and open your eyes, you've come to the right place. You may want to give more info as you feel comfortable with. Best wishes until next time. (my train of thought is about 5 min) :)
