How to help?

My 63 year old Grandmother was just told her breast cancer went from stage 1 go stage 3. I have been trying in every way to help. I go to her house to do dishes and help around the house. She lost all of her hair so I found her some wraps. I live down the street from her so I check on her a few times a week. Is it normal to feel like this isn't enough? I want to do more but feel like I'm failing her

Eating Disorder Help...?

You do need help, but does it have to be inpatient?  Have you tried with an outpatient therapist?  My guess is you have, but then you'd be able to continue with your education.  But at some point you need someone who can help you help yourself -- and I know that's a whole lot easier said than done -- so you can learn some tools to at least control this unhealthy part of your life on your own.  As for the insecurity and anxiety itself, well, I wish I knew how to do that, but I think this one behavior you can learn to control.  Good luck.

What medicine will help with withdrawls?Thats not a narcotic.

Hi Sugarfoot and welcome! I'm sorry that you are having to deal with your sons addiction! Bless you for caring do much and wanting to help him! If you could provide us with a little more information, we can give you better advice! Do you know specifically what he is taking, and how much per day? Is he being prescribed pills by a doctor? Has he made the decision to quit? If so, will he quit cold turkey, or will he be able to taper down? Tapering down would be the easiest on his body with less intense withdrawal symptoms! You can help him with that my controlling his doses! I don't know much about Klondine as I've never taken it! I believe it is a blood pressure medication and supposedly does help with withdrawals! Has your son been prescribed this? Hang in there and others will be along to offer support and advice! I wish you the very best! Please take care of yourself during all of this!

I freind needs help

The important thing to find out is whether his doctor doesnt have the time to help in this capacity or if he believes he is not SSI eligible as a person has to have a qualifying disability. The criteria for SSI for any disability including depression are listed under the "questions and answers" section at which is the official social security website.    If his psychiatrist believes he is not eligible it would be important for him to discuss the reasons why and what else his psychiatrist feels he could do as there are agencies that assist people with disabilities find work. If he has overall concerns about his psychiatrist agencies such as NAMI can provide some information as regards referrals and also try calling local psychiatric hospitals as many psychiatrists that work there have an outpatient practice as well.

looking for help or ways to help ur aunt

Hi, I just wanted to respond to you because nobody else has, and which most likely means that we don't know the answer ro your question, and neither do I. Yes, the costs for treatment are incredibly expensive, and as you suspect, I also doubt your aunt would qualify for government assistance, and especially sine she lives in Mexico. I would think that if there is any help for your aunt, this would be in Mexico. Medications in Mexico are not only much less expensive but since she lives there, it may be worth finding if, and where she can get help, and financial assistance, or even free treatment. If she is too sick, and/or depressed to do this research herself, then still you may be able to do this for her. Sorry that I could not be of more help, katrin

Try taking melatonin for your sleep troubles. You might need to get put on antidepressant meds as well before you get to the hopelessness and irrational thinking to where you want to hurt yourself to end the pain and mental frustration. I don't know how to touch on your money issues but if you have family out there, go to them or seek help from a nonprofit organization maybe. I wish you luck, strength and peace of mind

Therapist doesn't think therapy is helping?

Hello. From my own experience, medication alone has not been adequate. I have depressive and anxiety based disorders as well as ptsd. A therapist should be able to help you make progress as well as monitor the effectiveness of meds which often require dosage adjustments or even switching drugs. Most psychiatric meds used today can take weeks to become fully effective, and therapy is a process that takes time as well. You could always find a new therapist, or even find a support group in your area. Based on your statements, something needs to change. Take care, GM
