Welcome to the Breast Cancer Community

Thank you, Chris, for the introduction. You summarized the purpose of/for this forum very nicely. it's also nice to be encouraged to write about your (my) history and give a little information. I have done that through comments but I don't think I have on my profile page. I agree it is sometimes very helpful to have a profile to look at, especially when someone comments, or asks a question, and you are trying to learn more, and better about a person. You were announced a while back but I have only seen you around most recently, so I am glad to learn a little bit more about you. You also have a very sweet photo of yourself. thanks again, kat

Sister-inlaw has bone cancer which spread from Breast Cancer

The best place to get a true picture that would deal specifically with your sister-inlaw's case would be from her Oncologist. Bone cancer that has been determined to be mets. from breast cancer is one of the most treatable types although no metastatic cancer is cured. It would be my choice .... that no doubt sounds odd but I think all who have survived the initial breast cancer have thoughts of future mets. You might (if you haven't already) post your concers on the "Expert Forum" to get an opinion from the Cleveland Clinic Physicians.   Regards .....

Breast Cancer at the age of 15???

I am not a doctor and cannot answer any of your specific questions. But, I am a mother and I just wanted to offer some advice. This sounds like a very scary time for you. Have you talked with your mother or another adult about this. Sounds like you should have an appointment made for you to get this checked out by a doctor. The internet and sites like this are great to ask questions, receive support and information, but it does not take the place of having a physical examination to figure out what is really going on. You sound like a very mature 15 year old, but trying to deal with this all alone is alot to take on. I hope you will talk to your mom and get an appointment sceduled. Good luck to you, I hope it all turns out fine.

Overwhelming

Well, everything may be fine but then again it may not. Family history is important BUT only a small percentage of diagnosed cases are related to family history. I would say that you are stressing out a bit early since you haven't had your biopsy yet and there will be plenty of "waiting" coming up even after the biopsy. It's OK to be scared; I doubt if there is one woman who hasn't had the same reaction. I think you may have answered your own question when you said that you need to find your own strength and faith in order to deal with the situation. Everyone deals in a different way from what I have read here in our Community but somehow we all come out on the other side no matter what the outcome. I believe that strength comes when you need it and I'm sure this will be true in your case. Faith of course is something that you either have or you don't so that will be yours to work on. Advances are being made every day in the various treatments for all the types of Breast Cancer so we all have reason to hope that one day there will be a cure. Until that time we all have to deal with whatever we are dealt and do it in the best way that we can. I've heard from countless women who have been surprised at the strength they actually had as things progressed ... I think that we women are a lot stronger than we think and I'm sure you'll find this in yourself too. Do your best, talk about it if it helps or keep it to yourself if that's what makes you the most comfortable. It's all about YOU now so "hear" what others say but you aren't required to "listen".   Regards ....
