What to expect during chemo/radiation...

I will be caring for my neighbor during her treatment for stage 3A breast cancer.  She will be receiving chemotherapy for 6 to 8 months followed by radiation.  Aside from taking her to her appointments, I need to get an idea of just how much attention my dear friend will require as a result of the chemo?   Will she need someone to stay over night, for instance.  Can I expect her to be very ill or is chemo less sickening these days?  It just helps to be prepared. Thanks!

recovery after lower back disc fusion

Well, I'm 7 weeks out from a one level fusion with instrumentation at l5/s1. I had my surgery feb 22nd. My dr won't even consider releasing me to work until june 22nd. That'll be 4 months from my surgey.  It also depends on the person and everyone is different in how they recover. Ur having multi levels fused. It may take u longer to heal. Id walk as much as u can after ur surgery. Its a major surgery and I've found it to be a very painful one to recover from. Still very painful for me at this stage. I wish u the best, if u have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. I was in the hospital 3 days, my surgery was 6 hours, and I have a 5-6 inch incision on my back.

What to Expect?

Hi and welcome! I work at a methadone clinic so I have seen all types of clients and happenings that go on.  2 years is a long time to see no change....Is he still using drugs?  Has he gotten his life together at all.....a job etc....???  And most importantly is he in aftercare?  If he is going to get and stay clean he needs to be in aftercare!  NA or AA meetings or a therapist or something.  Most of the methadone clinics dont really give very good "therapy"  The minimum requirement for individual sessions is once a month with a counselor and that is what most people get.  Thats not enough for someone who is trying to get clean! Tell us more.... about what you re seeing now, what you expect to see,  is he still using etc... Keep on posting and let us know how its going!

What to expect from grandson with ADHD?

My brother was diagnosed with ADHD from a young parents sent him to numerous councellors anger management anywhere they could think of and nothing matter what way they even disciplined him he just carried on..ADHD sufferers are very emotional and refuse to talk about their feelings and getting embarrassed thinking it makes them less of a man in his case often resolving in pushing people away..something you could try is to try asking him to keep some sort of a brother did this and he got alot of his feelings out without the discomfort of talking to someone face to face and seemed happier for very close to my brother and im the only person he feels like he can talk to..maybe you could try acting more as a friend than a grandparent maybe this would make him feel more inclined to open he gets older he will start to grow out of brothers 24 now and getting married next year..never thought id see the day he would settle down..

TGA and what to expect in the future

I understand that you seem to be in a tough spot here however you cannot put a price on your life.  I see that you are from Oregon by your profile and remember in the United States you cannot be denied healthcare due to lack of insurance.  If your condition is progressing there is no doubt in my mind that you need to get it taken care of now once and for all while the gettin is good and before something happens that may become irreversible.  Only your heart doc knows the severity of your TGA and the measurements that is needed to basically fortell what you are facing and what the tests show in terms of physical progression of the heart.  This is nothing to put off believe me....Again in terms of needing a pacemaker only your doc can accurately answer that question for you because he/she knows the severity.  As far as what meds are used to maintain a rhythm issue are generally beta blockers that the docs give you....i cannot yell this enough to you...see the doc and tell them what your financial situ is......they do not close doors because of inability to will help lead you in the right direction in getting the assistance you benefits you and them believe me....
