Help with understanding report

My daughter's mammogram/ultrasound report states "persistent ovoid mass with circumscribed margins lower inner quadrant, measuring 4 x 3.5 x.2.8.  She's being scheduled for an ultrasound guided core biopsy.   She's terrified and I want to help comfort her if  possible.  Does this report mean breast cancer or could it be benign?

Help understanding Cervical Spine MRI

Hi there,I'm guessing it may have been another doctor who referred you tothe orthopedic surgeon. Usually it's ones family doctor who makesthe referral. I was going to suggest that you try and make an appointmentwith your family doctor, take the Cervical Spine MRI results witth youand discuss them with your family doctor. That's what I would do.Seeing though that the appointment with the orthopedic surgeon ison Monday and it's already Friday, getting an appointment with yourfamily doctor probably will not be a possibility. So, I would bring the MRIresults to the appointment with the orthopedic surgeon and have thesurgeon explain the results of the cervical spine MRI.  What I wouldsuggest, however, is before you agree to surgery of any kind on your back, I would take notes when you talk to the orthopedic surgeonand whatever options the surgeon suggests, I would run those suggestionsby your family doctor and let your family doctor be your second opinionas it were. Good luck. Eve

MRI of the Cervical Spine

Forgot to include the 2nd page: Very confusing and seams to contradict what the above findings read. Impression: 1. Chiari 1 malformation with the cerebellar tonsil extending approx. 12 mm (previously 7 mm on 3-1-13) below the foramen magnum with peglike configuration however there is no cervical syrinx. 2. No focal disc protrusion or spinal canal stenosis Correct me if I'm right, doesn't the above reading state "Therer is cervical syrinx"? Thanks again!

I'm lost

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum. I am so sorry for ur DD and what she is going thru and urself for having to see ur child in pain. U mentioned that CSF flow was normal, was a CINE MRI done? Did they also do MRI's of her cervical , thoracic and lumbar spine? Many Drs will only look to the brain and cervical spine MRI and not look further, but Chiari has related conditions and issues that should be reviewed b4 surgery is considered an option. U said symptoms increased, may I ask what is going on? AS I said Chiari has related conditions and issues and it can be one of those causing the increased symptoms. Make sure the Dr u will see is a true Chiari specialist and will test her for ALL related issues b4 suggesting treatment. With her being so young, sleep apnea is a must to be tested for...and ruled out.....tethered cord, syringomyelia, disk issues like scoliosis, ehlers-danlos, ICP, POTS..... I know this is a lot and u r already over whelmed and frustrated, but I mention this bcuz it is important, it can affect how she feels and heals post op if she is considered a surgical candidate.
