Suggested Questions And Answer :

shrinking Breasts?

Hi there. The reason for this may be a combination of hormonal changes and the natural physiology of getting older.  It is very hard to tell at this point if something is really wrong, but I can think of one disorder that can be the worst case scenario.  This condition may be related to giving birth which is called pituitary apoplexy, which means that some parts of the pituitary gland may have malfunctioned after problems with delivery (if you have bleeding during delivery).  This can cause decreased production of female hormones that can lead to breast regression and menstrual irregularities. However, as I have mentioned, it is very hard to conclude this and I suggest you observe yourself or have this checked by your doctor. Regards.

Lumps in armpit and breast lump

Certainly you should get a professional opinion. Given your young age, I'd say the lumps under your arm are lymph nodes (normal) and the lump in your breast, given it's been there a long time, may be a simple cyst. Simple cysts can get bigger before your period and smaller after your period. Sometimes they cause pains too. Once you get insurance, make an appointment for a physical. Or find a free women's clinic to go to in your area.

Breast cancer tumor size 5cm

I noticed that you posted Dear Doctor. You are currently on the breast cancer community side of the format so if you'd like a response from a doctor, you want to go to this side: http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Breast-Cancer/show/121 But as a person who had cancer that was 10 cm, I did have chemo first and then surgery and then more chemo and radiation. I see you're in the United Kingdom. If you feel that you are not being told the correct information, you may want to see about a second opinion for your wife. In my case, they had to shrink the mass before removal so they would have enough skin to close me up with. As it was, I was concave after surgery (think bowl effect). Best wishes to your wife and I hope she does well with her treatments. And for you, her caregiver, best wishes as well for being a great husband and loving partner to her when she needs you so desperately.

Am I right to think the worst?

Hi, Unless there was a BI-RADS score (a rating of the degree of suspicion regarding the finding and a recommendation regarding type of follow-up indicated)  included in the radiologist report, all you can know for sure at this point is  that the lesion is "worrisome." The sonogram will help to further define what type of lesion it appears to be (soild or fluid-filled). Depending on the result, a biopsy may be recommended. An experienced radiologist can form a good idea of how suspicious a finding is from its various characteristics seen through imaging, but a pathologist's examination of the cells in a biopsy specimen is  the only way to be 100% sure whether or not the lesion is malignant. Please let us know how things turn out--we care! Wishing you the best, bluebutterfly

Inflammatory Breast Cancer = Anti hormonal

Hi there! I am sorry to hear about your mother’s condition. Inflammatory breast cancer is rare type of cancer which can easily spread. It is caused by obstruction of the lymphatics of the skin of breast by cancer cells. There is redness of the skin with oedema. The skin may appear pinkish, reddish purple or bruised. The first line treatment of inflammatory breast cancer is systemic chemotherapy which helps in shrinking the tumour. It can be followed up by a surgery to remove the tumor and then radiation therapy. A multimodal approach for treatment of breast cancer has been found to be more successful compared to a single line of treatment. Hormone therapy is an adjuvant option along with surgery, chemo or radiotherapy. If the breast cancer cells have estrogen receptors drugs like astamoxifen can be used. It prevents estrogen from binding to its receptor and in this way estrogen receptor cancer cells stop growing and die. The standard surgery for inflammatory breast cancer is a modified radical mastectomy. The prognosis of inflammatory breast cancer depends on many factors like patient’s age, grade of tumor and patients overall health condition. Other modalities of treatment are targeted approach, neoadjuvant chemotherapy but all are used along with surgery or chemotherapy. Your mother seems to be in the advanced stage of cancer. You need to convince your mother to start chemotherapy or radiotherapy depending on her stage of cancer. In ulcerations and pain associated with ulceration radiation tends to be very effective. Hope you find this information useful. Do keep us posted on how she is doing. Take care and good luck!

Natural remedies to cure breast cysts HELP!!

Investigate Lugol's solution (potassium iodide) supplements. Cysts, especially breast cysts, I believe, can be caused by a deficiency of iodine. It is certainly true in my case. Lugol's is available over the counter or on the internet. I take only five drops of 5 per cent per week. Deficiency is becoming more common as chlorine, fluoride, and bromine displace iodine in our diet.
