Very old seroma - looking for info before planning more surgery

I am a 57-year-old breast cancer survivor.  I was diagnosed in early 2008 and elected for breast preservation and had a partical mastectomy (needed a second one to get clear margins).  I had infiltrating invasive cancer, and the area removed was about the size of a golf ball.  A sentinal node biopsy showed two ancillary nodes were cancerous, so all the remaining ones were removed, they were all free of cancer. This was followed by six rounds of chemo and later 47 days of radiation.   I have been plagued by having a seroma which does not go away. &

Very old seroma - looking for info before planning more surgery

Hello and hope you are doing well. As the seroma is recurring, surgery may be the option. But there is the likelihood of excessive bleeding due to the fibrous tissue surrounding the lesion. The surgery may not be as extensive as the initial surgery and hence less painful. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum.   Many with Chiari it seems have scoliosis to some degree...have they checked  him for tethered cord? This is a related condition that can cause the scoliosis and may help limit what other surgeries that may be needed.... As for the chiari do see a true chiari specialist and have a CINE MRI to see if there is a CSF obstruction and also have MRI's checked for a syrinx. Sleep apnea is also something that should be ruled out , and ehlers-danlos, ICP, POTS..... We do have a list of Drs on here  for u to use to research Drs, it is not meant as a referral and it does not indicate which treat pediatrics.

Info on Aspergers

Hi, I'm not a parent, but I have grown up with PDD NOS which is a from of autism very similar to aspergers. Please take time to look in my journals, especially the one where I actually had an anxiety attack that triggered me to lash out against myself.  For me when I bite myself, slap or bang my head it is because I'm stressed out beyond my threshold. Usually somethign is bothering me such as an arguement and the person won't back down even if I try to tell them not to. In the end I end up feeling like a trapped wild animal and that's when I lash out. For me it is an attempt to diffuse the pent up anxiety and rage I may feel.  To counter that, I found if the person who is triggering the attack calms down, than so can I. I'm sensitive to the anxiety level of those around me. The more stessed out they are, the more stressed out I am. If my stress goes beyond what I can bear then that's when I feel like a wild animal pent up in a cage with no escape.

know anything about a torn disc in the back???

The MRI tells the story...although there may be a slight difference whether it was done with contrast dye or without.  However.....the chances of it being incorrect or just plain wrong are very small. Go to see a great orthopedic surgeon and determine what your options are.  Is there something more conservative that can be done before considering surgery? He/she will let you know.  Jo

My 22month old just had surgery

Hi and welcome to the Chiari forum. Wow, ur little one and ur family has been thru a  lot already.....and u r right she is strong and doing well, I am amazed too at how well she did as I was in ICU for 2.5 days...and in the hosp  for 3 more.... Do u know if she had a full decompression with a dura plasty?...many times they do not do a full one and r more conservative with children...just wondering.    Try not to let her bend or lift, pick things up.....she will compensate and listen to her body naturally  more so than an adult...we think too much and they she will not do something if it is causing her pain.   Was ur DD checked for tethered cord?   "selma"
