How much it cost a breast biopsy??? More less ; I need to know!

Hello and hope you are doing well. It is difficult to give the cost of the procedure, as it varies from place to place and from hospital to hospital. But if the charges for a procedure are fixed by the government of that country, then it is the same in almost all the hospitals. It is usually referenced in codes, like the Current Procedural Terminology(CPT) code set is a medical code set maintained by the American Medical Association. Your primary care physician may be able to guide you appropriately, please discuss this with him. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Needle biopsy cost-no insurance

I had a needle biopsy in my right breast in late 2007. Because I had no health insurance at the time, I paid out-of-pocket for its cost. The pathology report was around $200, the cost of the biopsy procedure was slightly over $1200.

Calcification

Calcifications are common. It is only when they are clustered or form certain patterns that they could be of concern. Even then, they are most often the result of some benign changes in the breast. Follow up in six months is the normal protocol for scattered calcifications. Experienced radiologists know when the calcifications look suspicious and will recommend biopsy. You can always get as second opinion, but it really doesn't seem necessary based on what you've told us so far. I know this from personal experience, as I've had calicifications that required biopsy and some that they're just watching every six months. I know the waiting is stressful sometimes (it is to me, too), but worrying about "what ifs" won't change anything. Others here may have additional information for you but  I hope this is at least a little helpful. Wishing you all the best, nc

what blood test is done for breast cancer?

I'm sorry to hear about your breast cancer and wish I could help more.  I had breast cancer and staging is measured by the size of the tumor and where it has spread to.  But also it is important for them to discover the type of breast cancer because some spread quickly.  That is done by a needle biopsy or removal of the tumor.  I'm sorry but there is no blood test.  I'm not a doctor, but please find the number to the cancer society and ask them about help for treatment cost and options.  The cancer society is always very nice and helpful and there is no cost to the call. Take care

Could it be Mastitis? :-(

oh no :( your post made me weepy because i feel for you... I personally would see a doctor if your symptoms haven't resolved by today. Or a LC. When I had mastitis, I called my dr and told him my LC said I had mastitis. He was willing to accept her diagnosis and prescribed me antibiotics by phone. mastitis would be accompanied by fever (i think). when I had mastitis, it knocked me on my butt. It felt like the flu. Fever, body aches, exhaustion.  It may be a clog, which can quickly develop into mastitis, so we need to get it cleared. Since the pain is concentrated on 1 side, i would be inclined to say it's a clog, perhaps you can't feel it. Or it may be a partial clog, so there is some draining but not complete which is why you get some relief. I know massage probably hurts, but if possible try to massage before and during a pump. You can take motrin to help with the pain. Try warm compresses or a hot shower before pumping. Pump as much as you can. My trick for clearing clogs (worked every time last time I pumped once I discovered it) was to use the cheap manual pump that comes with the pump in style. The one that looks like a bicycle pump. That bugger can suc.k anything out! I also think it helped because you can control the suction and do long, hard pulls. I would never use it regularly to pump (ouch!) but anytime I felt a clog, I would pull it out and have success. This time around, I have only had 1 clog (knock on wood). Since I had recently discovered it, i tried using my other, gentler manual, the harmony. That was strong enough to get this clog out. I wouldn't turn up the electric pump, as that can hurt and be too fast.

breast cancer sos.

Hi, I am sorry that you feel so badly. let me ask you a coupkle of questions, which may help you make sense out of being denied at this time for medical coverage. Did the report from the doctor, and which you showed to the Social Worker, actually say/suggest that you need a biopsy? The words used by the doctor/radiologist are very important here. You say that you have been diagnosed with suspicious 4 breast cancer. But the 4, (if I understand this correctly) is a score you got from the mammogram or ultrasound report, and it is not a diagnosis of actual cancer at all. It just means that there is some worry and suspicion, and usually with a BIRAD 4, a biopsy is then recommended. You need to speak with your doctor, or his nurse, and tell them about being denied for a biopsy, then ask them to explain what is going on and if you indeed need one, and then have them write a report to make it clear to  the people in charge of paying/refusing to pay how important this is. (and for that you need to be sure) You can also speak to a Social Worker, and they often do not cost anything at the cancer/womens 'breast clinics'. Best, Katrin

left breast pain underarem lump off and on for 2-3 years

I'm sorry but I can't distinguish between what you have had done and what the reports revealed and what you are talking about in the last part of your post about the Dr.s and Nurses destroying you and your family.  If you would like to post exactly what tests you have had done and what the reports stated I would be more than happy to read and give you an opinion from my point of view. Breast lumps and pain are most frequently due to the hormone levels in the body which makes both come and go just as the monthly variation in hormone levels. The reduction of the intake of caffeine is often recommended to help in the reduction of these symptoms. If nothing is evident on Mammogram or Ultrasound (other than a cystic condition) then there isn't anything to biopsy.  Regards .....

Stage 4 Breast Cancer

You don't need to know, dina.  The 'need' is a feeling. But if you insist, someone will tell you. Both telling a patient he will live forever, and telling them they have 3 months are bad ideas, and the most important reason for that is that nobody knows for sure. This happened to me. I wanted to know the results from the brain MRI that were supposed to be a comparison to the initial MRI, and following brain Radiation. The radiation oncologist's nurse called me at home and I specifically asked her how long I had to live. She told me that maybe I had two weeks, and then maybe up to six months. I had not expected such a direct answer and I was in shock, say the least. To make a long story short, the 6 months have passed, and I am feeling better than before I was diagnosed with bc, and which was three years ago. The chemo for the liver mets is just working great with hardly any side effects. So  be sure what you are asking for as you may get an answer? KAT
