Seeking for second Opinion -Rescue

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear what happened.  Cryotherapy will be of limited and questionable use at this point since this will only address one lesion at a time (localized form of treatment) compared to continuing chemotherapy with or without the biologic treatment Herceptin (chemotherapy is a "systemic" form of treatment which means it targets all the tumors at once, compared to a localized form of treatment).  However, localized form of treatment can be given for palliative purposes.  Meaning if for example the breast mass is really painful or is infected, then you may opt to have this surgically removed to improve the person's quality of life.  Even with this intention, cryotherapy is still questionable. It is OK to seek second opinion with another oncologist and I suggest you discuss with them regarding the points I have raised above.  For the moment, it seems that chemotherapy (systemic therapy) is the best form of treatment for your sister. I hope she gets better, and hoping for the best.  Regards.

Benign cyst

Unless those family members are Physicians I would follow the recommendation to do a follow-up in 6 months. I see no reason to suspect that the lump is something other than noted by the Radiologist who viewed your films. Having the 6 months follow-up IS being cautious ... routine mamograms are done yearly. lobular breast cancer recurrence

Hi. Was biopsy done on the lump? If biopsy has not been performed, perhaps it should be done to see if it is indeed a recurrence. It is unlikely that the lump developed from the tissue used for her breast reconstruction since the time interval is already 15 years.

FIBROADENOSIS

Hi, This is a benign non-cancerous breast lesion which presents as lumpiness and associated pain especially during hormonal changes as during the menstrual cycle. These are managed with regular breast self examinations and periodic clinical breast examinations by your physician and 6 monthly or yearly mammograms and ultrasound. They are removed surgically only if they are very large and causing pain and other pressure symptoms. They are known to spontaneously regress with menopause. It would be alright to go ahead and get a second opinion with another breast specialsit and decide about the further plan of mangement. Let us know if you have any other doubts. Regards.

fat deposit or breast cancer?

It could very well be an enlarged lymph node and lymph nodes can become enlarged for several reasons; one of which is an infection somewhere in the body. You might be wise to ck. with your family Dr. if this continues to concern you. Most breast discharge is a normal occurance.   Regards ....

Metastic Breast Cancer Diagnosis. Opinions?

Hi. I understand what you are going through. Your mum has breast cancer stage 4 with metastases to the bone and lung.  For stage 4 disease, the treatment goal is palliative.  Hormone therapy is being given to control the disease and is continued until disease progression.  If there is disease progression, therapy can be shifted to systemic chemotherapy. Your mum can also be given bisphosphonates (Pamidronate, Zoledronic Acid) to control the bone metastasis and relieve bone pains. Surgery and radiation therapy can also be options but this can be done on the latter part of the treatment process, once the disease is controlled.   What is important now is to see how your mum responds to her current treatment. You should discuss other treatment options with your mum's oncologist.   Stay positive.
