desperate for questions about referred pain

It's referred pain from those levels, do a search on L4 and L5 Radiculopathy, you see that your symptoms are consistent with the descriptions. And no you're not going nuts, a lot of Doctors don't really understand when people have things wrong with them and want answers. Especially back problems, there's a stigma attached to it. You're not asking for narcotics so your obviously not a drug seeker, although, be careful with the Tramadol, it some ways it's worse. And just because they think that CT results don't correlate, doesn't mean that there aren't issues. Sounds like you've been having some pretty serious pain. The Dr's probably not getting back to because he doesn't' know what to say. Hopefully your Chiropractor can get you through this, I had back surgery about 12 years ago, and had been doing pretty good. 2 years ago,my back went out on me, I could hardly walk, x-rays look horrible. He got me through it, I okay, for now. If these Doctors don't give you the attention you feel you deserve find another one. Take Care

Breast Pain

Hi Rachel, Most of the time scar tissue forms soon after surgery, but that's not to say that this couldn't be scar tissue inflammation that is causing the pain you are describing. Your doctor is doing the right thing to send you to a Breast Clinic, because it's important to have this problem investigated by a breast specialist.Scar tissue that can feel like a lump or tissue thickening is suspicious and has to be further evaluated. Of course I can't give assurance if what you have is scar tissue or not,but keep in mind that pain is rarely associated with breast cancer. If the doctor you'll be seeing orders a Mammogram, you could ask if an Ultrasound or an MRI could be considered due to the pain you are actually feeling in your breast. Hopefully, things will be resolved soon . Best wishes...

middle back pain

Hi there! Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Likely causes include postural issues, spinal structural defects, neuro-muscular causes, injuries, inflammations, degenerations, nutrient/ micronutrient deficiencies, refereed pain from other regions etc. With normal imaging studies structural issues are practically ruled out and other possibilities may need to be considered.  You could try a few weeks of physiotherapy to strengthen the back muscles before considering a review with your doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Question about compression fractures

Hi! I am sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Apart from pain medication, you need physiotherapy, braces, and back exercises. Calcitonin too helps reduce bone pain. Regarding pain medication, the medication that best controls your pain can be achieved after close discussion with your pain management doctor. Also a MRI may be required to see if there is nerve root or spinal cord compression. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
