Pain while sleeping

Hi...I can related to not being able to sleep on my mom told me a story, that when I was an infant she would move my position while sleeping to prevent a flat head...put me on my right , my left and I would move back to one position and my one side of my head was getting flat as an infant it is soft...well the Dr at the time said don't worry, be glad she 's a girl and her hair will hide it...really?...ugh...well when I was older I told her I still can not sleep on my stomach and have my head  facing to my left (on the right) as it no wonder as a baby I I also would wake with my jaw hurting feeling like it supported my head all night....finding a comfortable position and staying there all night is not easy... And yes, bending down is unbearable, I also found washing the front or rear inside wind sheild of a car is near impossible bcuz of the position we need to be the time I figured everyone felt like that and pushed thru....I no longer attempt to do these things that are difficult to do....

Lower back pressure, can't bend backwards

Hi there! Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include postural issues, neuro-muscular causes such as muscle sprain, nerve impingement, injuries to muscles/ ligaments, inflammations, spinal causes such as degeneration, micronutrient deficiencies, referred pain from other regions etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Meanwhile you could try using some warm compresses or taking some tylenol/ OTC NSAIDS and see of these seem to help. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

One Year after surgery for Spinal Stenosis

Since we don't know what kind of decompression surgery procedures you underwent to treat your stenosis, we cannot offer any insight into why you were informed not to bend backwards (called "extension"). I would continue to follow that advice (No lumbar extension, careful with exercise), but in the mean time, contact your doctor and ask questions. Also, you'll need to seek treatment for your sciatica. This could be part of the old spine problem or a new development. Best wishes.
