Not sure what to do

I am an addict and have always posted on that forum verses this one.  I have been clean for years but my back is crumbling me ):  I have scoliosis which has led to a fusion of C-5/6 which was a mistake for me.  I now have bulging discs all over my spine according to my last MRI, not a biggie for many and not for me either until now.  I started with finger numbness to both index fingersat the pad of the fingers, 2 months now.  I am a nurse, I also teach yoga which I love doing.  I have been receiving "currents" like electrica

people pushing bfing, how to tell them i'm not sure....

it is none of their business. When i was pregnant with my first, people would ask if i was going to nurse. I simply said I hope to and we'll see what happens. The end. With this one, if anyone asks i just say i will do my best and really hope it will work out. I can honestly say no one has asked me how long i plan on doing it, etc... You must be surrounded by some very nosy people :P i guess it depends on where you live. I actually don't know many people who breastfed more than a couple of months, so i don't have the same pressures as you. Interestingly, after my DD was born, I found the opposite to be true. I had to pump for my little one, and continued a bit past 6 months. People couldn't understand my choice and took it as a personal insult to THEM. So many people who heard I was pumping told me "i fed my baby formula and she was fine" as if my actions implied that what they did for their babies was inadequate. Mind you, i wasn't walking around telling the world i was pumping- they asked! Since this is such a personal topic for everyone, people who formula feed or breastfeed, i actually avoid most conversations about it unless i am asked specifically. if i were you, i would offer as little as possible, and a short answer will hopefully get the message across.

Your mother needs professional help as soon as possible! If she IS being harassed, the police should be informed and if she isn't, then she is delusional............ The drinking and drugs is the most frightening aspect of her behavior and I'm sure I don't need to tell you what could happen if she were to take too many Xanax on top of the alcohol. You could speak with her doctor about what you know and what you suspect, but he will not be able to discuss her case even with you. (HIPPA) Making him aware of her behavior might be in her best interest. If she has been taking Xanax for "multiple years," he absolutely must NOT just stop giving them to her, you can't go "cold turkey" off Xanax. It is very dangerous! In my humble opinion, I think you and your sister should talk with a psychiatrist about your mothers condition, even before you speak with her PCP. He/she will be able to offer you some options on best way to help her. I'm very sorry you are having to deal with this. I can only imagine how hard it must be. You and your sister take good care of each other. Please let us know how you're doing, OK? Peace Greenlydia

A GP is a good starting point because you are probably comfortable with them.  However, it may not (or it could be) be an area where they have much expertise.  A psychologist that specializes in ADHD is the best bet.  It kind of depends on your comfort level (and your insurance, I guess).

Wondering what I am ..

If you're interested in medication, you need to see a psychiatrist. That is a MD that specializes in psychiatry and medication management. If you're interested in therapy, you're interested in seeing someone that is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Psychologists, therapists, social workers, and counselors can all have that license if they so choose. However, none of them can prescribe medication. If you want both therapy and meds, then it's best to have a psychiatrist and an LPC who are willing to work together to get you balanced mentally. It's also good to have a support group for whatever diagnosis that your doctors give you, but this can wait until after you know what your problem is. Finally, and this is based on my own subjective research and experience, but having the right foods and exercise can work just as well as medications and therapy. If you have all four together, you're unstoppable.  I'd add a nutritionist to the team -- or I would read books and find web sites about diets that work for people who have the same diagnosis as you will get. Keep me updated!
