Sever upper back pain not responding to narcotics, steroids, or anti inflamorties

Last week I woke up one morning with a pain that I can only describe as like a bubble in my upper left back. After about 2 days the bubble pain turned into a knife like pain that goes straight through the back of my left lung and through to the front. The pain does not radiate, it is in one spot. I went to a chiro. who said (without xrays) that I had a couple "ribs out" after the first adjustment the pain was worse by the end of the second adjustment it was excruciating, I called a nurse hotline and described my symptons and they told me to hand up and dial 911, the paramedics came a

Sever upper back pain not responding to narcotics, steroids, or anti inflamorties

It kind of does sound like a rib, this might not be detectable on a  X-ray. You never had any issues in this area before? You can think of anything that might have triggered it, lot of bending, sports, lifting, severe coughing? Anyway, you should see a Doctor!

pain in upper left back, left neck

I think you should get an MRI on your cervical spine and maybe upper back.  It sounds like you might have a pinched nerve or maybe a herniated disk or something.  I get similar pain and I have 2 herniated disks in my neck.  I also get the back/chest pain and shoulder pain.  I think all that is connected.

I need advice on my back pain??

Hi there! Well, without a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Backache could be caused due to postural issues, neuro-muscular causes such as muscle sprain, nerve impingement, injuries to muscles/ ligaments, inflammations, spinal causes such as degeneration, micronutrient deficiencies, referred pain from other regions etc. MRI/ x-ray would rule out most structural causes, while other possibilities may need to be evaluated for. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an internist initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected, it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought. Meanwhile you could take some tylenol/ OTC NSAIDS and see of these seem to help. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

steroid injection

Sounds like am ear infection, nothing to do with the injection.  Having said that, I had the injection into the tip of  my shoulder and over the next few hours it developed into the most painful experience I have ever had!  It really was excruciating - I called NHS 24 and was advised to take several strong painkillers and go to bed.  It seems that the medication can crystalise in the joint and cause this immense pain.  In fact, it took a full week for the pain to subside.  Sadly, it didn't help my original condition (Rotator Cuff Syndrome) that much, either! I would say you need antibiotics for your ear infection.

Back & Neck Pain with Severe Headache

Your answer is in your post, protruding C4-5 and C5-6. By protruding I assume you protruding disc? The disc is probably compressing the nerve roots at those 2 levels. Both levels can cause neck pain and headaches. C4-5 = C5 - The main result of a pinched C5 nerve root is shoulder pain, weakness in the deltoid muscles, along with the possibility of a numb sensation in the shoulder area. C5-6 = C6 - The main result of a pinched C6 nerve is pain radiating down your arm and into your thumb.  Other less common symptoms include weakness in the biceps and wrist muscles.
