Can HOCD(Homophobia) lead you to thinking your gay?

Homophobia now is a disease?  God, what isn't a disease these days.  What I find most interesting is on your profile you say you're a female.  Assuming you're really a male, seven years without sex in this day and age with no religious reasons for it?  My guess is, if you were gay you'd know it, but people are different and have different levels of sex interest.  But if you want it and she doesn't, I see this as more a relationship issue than a sexual preference issue.  Only you truly know the answer.

Whats wrong with me?

Hi Christopher. I am glad that you are reaching out for help and I'm sorry that your parents laughed at you when you suggested seeing a therapist. How long have you been feeling this way? It seems like you are a very intelligent young man who has a lot of anger within you. Do you feel angry and violent all of the time? or do certain things set you off or act as triggers? I am worried about your anger and I believe that it may get you into trouble if it is not addressed professionally. Have you talked to your parents about your anger, depression, and suicidal thoughts? Many times parents do not want to believe that there may be something "wrong" with their child or that they are unhappy because it makes them feel as if they failed at being a parent. Parents sometimes do not truly understand what a teenager is going through. I do not believe that you should have to live this way without receiving help. Is there anyone else that you feel comfortable talking to about this? Perhaps a teacher, school counselor, relative, or family friend? Feel free to send me a private message if you wish. I would like to help. Hang in there. Stephanie

whats wrong with me?

It does sound like anxiety, but is that all the doctor said to you was to count to 10? Did he examine you and think that you have anxiety? Did he do any testing? I only ask because you should always have a complet evaluation before assuming that it is anxiety. My panic attacks give me a racing heart, and I shake, and my body can feel like jello.

Whats wrong with me?

I had the same problem you do. I was in a couple accidents, rear ended, and my most recent one was in October 04. I went to my doctor about my problems, but he would just give me muscle relaxers and pain meds. When it started getting really bad in my back, he would have everything but my back checked. I found out I have a whole list of problems, but with my back being the chief complaint, I finally switched doctors after two years, on the day I went to my new family doc she ordered an X-ray. My old doctor also referred me to a pain management doctor stating I had a narcotic problem. When I explained to the the PM doc, he sent me out right away for an MRI. The MRI showed I have disk degenerative disease L-4 L-5 region, slight neck un alignment, and a slight herniation of a disk. He started me on steriod injections and pain meds regularly. I suggest if there is something wrong, go to your doctor and tell him all the symptoms and ask for an X-ray or MRI. This will help in diagnoising problem. I am not at all pain free and have had to stop the injections because Im pregnant, but the pain was almost irritating to do anything for longer than 5 mins. at a time. It still is very painful and uncomfortable. GOod Luck. I hope you can find out soon so you can function with the least amount of pain possible!!

Unwanted thoughts such as you describe are often a symptom of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Fear of contamination is a typical manifestation of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Here's a definition I found on the web: "OCD is a condition that is characterized by intrusive, unwanted, recurrent, and unpleasant thoughts (obsessions) that cause anxiety." OCD is a real medical disorder, and it can be treated with anti-depressant medication to reduce symptoms, and behavioral therapy. It was probably triggered by the stress you are under at the moment. I have a friend who developed OCD and is doing much better now. I hope you can call your doctor on Monday and get started with some treatment. Big hugs!

Whats wrong with my daughter?

Is this related to autism?  I can't say what is wrong with your daughter, but there could be a number of things.  One of my doctors suspected I have a mild form of POTS syndrome, which causes me to feel like fainting at times when standing up or shifting position.  I sometimes temporarly go blind or lose some/most of my vision with an attack. It's brief, but it does leave an odd sensation in the head. That is something you can ask your daughter more.  I sometimes get migrane headaches and they may cause me to feel sometimes out of it, dizzy and and not able to think as clearly.
