Severe Mid-Back Pain, Yet No Apparent Cause?

Hey buddy, I had the exact same problem for many many years, i am now 27 and only just found something that helps my unexplained back pain. I was trying the normal pain killers like the opiods and although they helped the pain they also became quite addictive and i would "chase" that high you get when first taking them so i quit. I now take a drug called "lyrica" which helps neuro pain, now i have never been told i have neuro pain but these have helped me no end. They also conviently helped with my anxiety and nausea which was a nice bonus. Make sure you speak with your doctor about trying Lyrica and have a good chat with him because it can cause some bad side effects in a few people. Good luck i know the pain you are going through and i know it can be hard without actually knowing why you are getting pain.

Lower left back pain / Middle left back pain ?

Sounds like you might have compressed the sciatic nerve.  I had a similar situation when I lifted something.  I also found out I have a bulging disc at L4/L5 which is pinching some nerves.  It hurts worse when I ride in a vehicle for any length of time.  As long as I'm standing or moving I'm o.k.  I am currently in pain management, doing exercises, etc.  Not a whole lot you can do at this stage except treat the pain and try not to injure it further.  I'm told that eventually whatever is compressing the nerve will heal, unless you have injured something severely.  Probably need to tell your dr. and seek some help early on.

creams for back, lotions rubs

I swear by biofreeze for my back and hips and hands and, well, if I could be dipped in a vat of it I think I would :)  I have tried the arnica and it just did not cut it for me.  I do like the oral forms of it, though.  Back to the creams, I have not found anything indicating that these creams should not be used long term and will cry if I ever do.

extreme stiffness in back ribs but injury is in lower back

Hi...many times muscles other than those directly affected can get sore and stiff bcuz of the way we compensate for the pain.... The other muscles may twist and turn to give support where the weakened muscles need it. Try using ur heat pack up where u r stiff..and not just on the injury area. I pray u feel better soon "selma"

Pap smear came back abnormal after 2 years of normal ones. Now what?

HPV infections are common and transient - they come and go. Most strains are harmless even though they can cause abnormal pap smears. But other things can cause abnormal paps too most of which are harmless. That is why the recommendation is to repeat an abnormal pap (in 6 months or so) versus undergoing further testing and treatment since those procedures may cause permanent harm (reduced fertility and pre-term labor due to incompetent cervix). They even changed pap guidelines to every 3 years versus every year because too many women were being over-treated and harmed by abnormal pap smears that weren't an indication of a true problem. Over-treatment is much too common in our for-profit medical system. And women's health bears the brunt of unnecessary testing and procedures with hysterectomies and c-sections at the top of the list and cervical treatments close behind (such as LEEPs).
